Celebrate the 4th Annual National Pilates Day at 7 of Austin’s Premier Pilates Studios

Austin, TX – April 13, 2007 – The Pilates Method Alliance® (the PMA®) announced today that member Pilates studios in Austin, Texas will be participating in its 4th annual National Pilates Day on May 5, 2007. Participating Pilates studios will be offering myriad of free activities – from classes and Pilates equipment sessions to open houses, demonstrations, raffles and giveaways. Participating studios are: BodyBusiness, Body Springs, The Hills Fitness Center, JoyMoves, the Pilates Center of Austin, Pilates Connections and Pilates360. The public may contact any of these studios for a more detailed schedule of their respective events.

“We created the annual Pilates Day event to raise public awareness about the benefits of the Pilates method of exercise and to underscore its accessibility to people of all ages and abilities.” said Kevin Bowen, executive director of the Pilates Method Alliance.

Pilates Day events are held in over 100 cities worldwide with the intention of (1) uniting the global Pilates community, (2) promoting high standards for Pilates professional training and teaching, and (3) and expanding awareness of the PMA’s outreach endeavors: its newest outreach initiative, Pilates-in-the-Schools, is directed at empowering America’s children to develop healthy habits for life by integrating Pilates instruction into school Physical Education programs across the country.

Widely embraced by dancers for years, the Pilates method involves specific systematic exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns. Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor itself, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.
